What's On

History

Oxford Christian Spiritualist Church was formed in the 1950's, with the amalgamation of three separate small groups of spiritualists from Alma Place, Headington and Cowley.

They purchased the premises of 39b Oxford Road, Cowley, Oxford, which came to be known locally as the "Tin Temple". It had been used for a variety of purposes: a carpenter's workshop, a nursery school and for storage of various kinds.

In recent years when the old building was beginning to leak and needed substantial repairs, it was decided to come to an agreement with the neighbouring builder who wanted to develop his adjoining office yard for housing and offices: he converted our present building to what is now our church.

We moved into the new church in 2000.

The altar still bears a brass plaque as it was donated by The Christian Spiritualist Mission, and was presented by Mr & Mrs Beesley along with paintings that still hang in the Church, their son has told me that he can remember them in their house when he was a boy.

Please come along and meet us, you are always assured of a warm welcome at any of our meetings. We hold services with clairvoyance every Sunday and the first and third Thursday of every month.

We also have two spiritual healing sessions every Wednesday, for which everyone is welcome to attend (these are free of charge), clairvoyance workshops are on some Saturdays, spiritual awareness groups and various social events throughout the year.
